New Permanent Representative of Nigeria Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 9 December (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations (Vienna), Abel Adelakun Ayoko, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Ayoko is also serving as Ambassador to Austria and Slovakia.

During his career, Mr. Ayoko has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador/Deputy Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations in Geneva (2012- 2013); Director, Third United Nations Division, International Organizations Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010-2012); Minister/Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Nigeria, Stockholm, Sweden, with concurrent accreditation to Denmark, Norway and Finland (2006-2010); Assistant Director/Special Assistant to Under Secretary, African Affairs Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002-2006); Senior Counsellor, Embassy/Permanent Mission of Nigeria, Vienna, Austria (1998-2002); First Secretary, Administration Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (1991-1998); Second Secretary/Head of Chancery, Embassy of Nigeria, Luanda, Angola (1998-1990); Third Secretary, Nigeria High Commission, Lusaka, Zambia (1987-1988); Third Secretary, American Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1984-1986).

Mr. Ayoko holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and a Master's Degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
