UNIDO supports the advance of environmentally sustainable solutions in the Russian Federation

MOSCOW/VIENNA, 24 October 2013 (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) - The Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Li Yong, and the President of the Joint Stock Company Russian Railways, Vladimir Yakunin, today signed a joint declaration on support for the advancement of environmentally sustainable solutions in the Russian Federation.

The declaration supports the partnership between UNIDO and Russian Railways as an effective mechanism to advance environmentally sustainable solutions and create replicable approaches that are at the same time beneficial for the environment.

Currently, UNIDO and Russian Railways are conducting the project "Environmentally sound management and final disposal of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)", co-funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), UNIDO and other national partners.
