New Permanent Representative of India presents credentials

VIENNA, 12 March (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations (Vienna), Rajiva Misra, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Misra is also serving as Ambassador-designate to Austria.

During his career, Mr. Misra has served in various capacities since joining the Indian Foreign Service in 1980, among them:

Ambassador to Slovakia (2010-2014); Head of the United Nations Division, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi (2009-2010); Ambassador to Croatia (2006-2009); Served in different capacities at Embassies and Consulates in Paris, San Francisco, Thimphu and Geneva, including as Deputy Chief of Mission to the World Trade Organization (2003-2006); Head of the Division of Multilateral Economic Relations, Ministry of External Affairs (2001-2003); Seconded to the Ministry of Finance as Director (1995-1998); Director, Afghanistan-Pakistan Desk, Ministry of External Affairs and Foreign Secretary Office (1993-1995).

Mr. Misra studied English Literature and History at the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He speaks English, French, Hindi and Punjabi.

Mr. Misra is married and has two children.
