New Permanent Observer of the League of Arab States presents credentials

VIENNA, 22 December (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Observer of the League of Arab States to the United Nations (Vienna), Wael Nasser Eddin Al-Assad, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Al-Assad is also serving as the Head of Mission of the League of Arab States to Austria and to the International Organizations in Vienna.

During his career, Mr. Al-Assad has served in various capacities, among them: Representative of the Arab League Secretary General for Disarmament and Regional Security (2010-2014); Director of the Department of Multilateral Relations at the League of Arab States (2007-2010); Director of the Disarmament Department, and of the International Organizations Department at the League of Arab States (2002-2007); Assistant Director, Department of International Organizations at the League of Arab States (1992-2001); Director of Cultural Affairs at the Jordanian Ministry of Culture National Heritage, Amman (1990-1992); Chief of Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Arab Cooperation Council, Amman, Jordan (1988-1990).                 

Mr. Al-Assad is married and has two children.
