VIENNA, 30 October (UN Information Service) - The United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, will visit Austria from 2-4 November 2014 to attend the Second United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Vienna and for a bilateral visit to Austria.
The Secretary-General will meet the Federal President, Heinz Fischer, and the Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs, Sebastian Kurz. The Secretary-General will give an address at the official opening of the Second United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries at the Vienna International Centre and will attend a Gala Reception for the UN Victims Trust Fund hosted by Ali Rahimi at the Palais Szechenyi. He will give a keynote address at the opening of the Second UNIDO Forum on Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development and address the Permanent Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) as well as speak at a Business Investment Forum organized by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. While in Vienna, Mr. Ban will also meet the Heads of the Vienna-based UN organizations including the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Yury Fedotov.
Among those speaking at the Second United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries are the President of Austria, Heinz Fischer, the President of the UN General Assembly, Sam Kutesa and the President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Martin Sajdik.
