New Permanent Representative of Nepal presents credentials

VIENNA, 11 February (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations (Vienna), Deepak Dhital presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Dhital is also serving as Ambassador-designate to Austria.

During his career, Mr. Dhital has served in various capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he joined in 1999, among them:

Chief of the United Nations, International Organizations and International Law Division (2012-2014); Director General of the Department of Passport (2011); Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy to Belgium (2008-2011); Director of the Section for South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (2006-2008); Director of the North, East and South-East Asia Division (2005-2006); Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy of Nepal to Malaysia (2003-2005); Deputy Permanent Representative to UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific at the Embassy to Thailand (2001-2003); Private Secretary in the Office of the Foreign Minister (2000-2001); Deputy Chief of Protocol (1999-2000).

Prior to joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dhital has served as Section Officer at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (1986-1999); Assistant Editor at the National News Agency and sub-editor of the "The Rising Nepal" (1984-1986).

Mr. Dhital holds a Master's degree from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom and a Master's degree from the Tribhuvan University of Nepal.

Mr. Dhital is married and has two children.
