New Permanent Observer of the Office of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf presents credentials

VIENNA, 17 August (UN Information Service) - The Permanent Observer of the Office of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf to the United Nations (Vienna), Mohammed Saleh Ali Al Gheilani, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Al Gheilani has served in various capacities, among them:

Head of Administrative and Financial Anti-Corruption Directorate, Special Branch, Oman (2011-2014); On Secondment to Royal Office (National Security Council), Oman (2009-2011); Lecturer at the Police College, Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences, Oman (2005-2009); various roles in information, operations, investigations at the Royal Oman Police, Oman (1995-2005); Training Officer at the Directorate General of Criminal Investigations, Oman (1992-1993).

Mr. Al Gheilani holds a Bachelor's degree in Art and Social Sciences from the Florida Atlantic University, United States (1991), a Master of Science in Security Management and Information Technology from the University of Leicester (2000) and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Criminal Justice from the University of Birmingham (2008).

He speaks Arabic, English and Hindi.

Mr. Al Gheilani is married and has three children.
