New Permanent Representative of Venezuela presents credentials

VIENNA, 19 January (UN Information Service) - The Permanent Representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (Vienna), Jesse Alonso Chacón Escamillo, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Chacón Escamillo has served in various capacities, among them:

President of Corpoelec and Minister of the People's Power for Electric Energy (2013-2015); President of the Social Research Group XXI Century (GISXXI) (2010-2013); Minister of the People's Power for Science, Technology and intermediate Industries (2009); Minister of People's Power for Communication and Information (2008-2009); Minister of People's Power for the President Office (2008); General Director of the National Commission for Telecommunications (CONATEL) and Minister of the People's Power for Telecommunications and Informatics (2007-2008); President of the National Commission for the Penitentiary Emergency/President for the National Committee for Risk Management and Minister of Interior and Justice (2004-2007); Minister of Communication and Information (2002-2004); General Director (2001-2002) and Secretary General (1999-2001) of the National Commission for Telecommunications (CONATEL).

Mr. Chacón Escamillo holds a Master of Science degree in Telematics from the France National Telecommunications Institute and Simón Bolívar University of Venezuela.
