New Permanent Observer of the Council of Europe presents credentials

VIENNA, 26 May (UN Information Service) - The Permanent Observer of the Council of Europe to the United Nations (Vienna), Mr. Erwin Kubesch, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career Mr. Erwin Kubesch has served in various capacities, among them:

Head of Department for the Organization of International Conferences and Matters relating to International Organizations in Austria at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vienna (since 2012); Ambassador of Austria to Slovenia (2009-2012); Ambassador to Denmark with concurrent accreditation to Iceland (2008-2009); Vice-President of the Assembly of States Parties of the International Criminal Court (2005-2008); Ambassador to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague (2004-2008); Director of the Personnel Department and Deputy Director General for Administrative Affairs and Infrastructure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-2004); Consul General in Berlin (1992-1997); Head of the Department for Recruiting and Training at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1988-1992).

Mr. Kubesch holds a doctoral degree in law from the University of Vienna.
