New Permanent Representative of Peru presents credentials

VIENNA, 3 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations (Vienna), H.E. Mr. Juan Fernando Javier Rojas Samanez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career Mr. Rojas Samanez has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador of Peru in Chile (2014-2016); Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs (2013-2014); Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012-2013); Director General of Economic Affairs (2011-2012); Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Peru to the International Organizations in Geneva (2010-2011); Ambassador of Peru in Bolivia (2006-2010); Secretary of Foreign Policy (2005-2006); Ambassador, Secretary for Administration (2004-2005); Ambassador of Peru in Costa Rica (2000-2004); Director for South America, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998-2000); Minister, Consul General of Peru in New York (1996-1998); Minister, Embassy of Peru in France (1994-1996); Director of Press, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1992-1994); Minister Counsellor, Embassy of Peru in Bolivia (1989-1992); Chief of Staff of the Permanent Secretary of the Latin American Economic System (SELA), Caracas, Venezuela (1986-1989).

Mr. Rojas Samanez studied economic sciences at the National University San Agustín in Arequipa. He graduated from the Diplomatic Academy of Peru with a degree in International Relations and Diplomatic Training.
