New Permanent Representative of Belaruspresents credentials

VIENNA, 12 January (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations (Vienna), Alena Kupchyna, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During her career Ms. Kupchyna has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Austria and to Croatia (with residence in Vienna), Permanent Representative of Belarus to the International Organizations in Vienna and to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) (since 2016); Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus (2012-2016); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Hungary and Slovenia in Budapest (2006-2012); Director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) (2004-2006); Director of the Department for Humanitarian, Ecological, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, MFA (2002-2004); Consultant, Department of International Organizations, MFA (2001-2002); Counsellor, Deputy Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of Belarus to the UN and other International Organizations at Geneva (1995-1998); Second Secretary, Head of International Treaties Division, Deputy Director, Legal Department, MFA (1992-1995); Research Fellow, Institute of Philosophy and Law, Belarusian Academy of Sciences (1990-1992).

Ms. Kupchyna speaks English and French.

Ms. Kupchyna has one son.
