Vienna Energy Forum 2017 final report published

VIENNA, 11 August 2017 - The final report of the fifth edition of the Vienna Energy Forum that took place in the capital of Austria in May was published today by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The publication features a summary of the main events attended by 1,650 participants during the Forum, as well as the key messages. The messages highlight the catalytic role of energy for the successful implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement.

In the foreword to the publication, LI Yong, the Director-General of UNIDO, wrote: "The Vienna Energy Forum 2017 has confirmed that the Sustainable Development Goals are tightly interwoven; none can be achieved without addressing the others. It has also stressed that we need to better steer the course towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement. This requires that we all join forces in a common effort towards these goals. In this regard, I am pleased that the event was able to attract these very experts, practitioners and policy-makers who lead the way."

The event was co-organized by UNIDO, the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria (BMEIA), the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL).
