New Permanent Representative of Albania presents credentials

VIENNA, 19 February (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Albania to the United Nations (Vienna), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Igli Hasani, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Hasani has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the International Organizations in Vienna (since 2018); Secretary General, Ministry of Defence (2017-2018); Director General for Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence (2014-2017); Director of NATO, EU and Foreign Relations, Ministry of Defence (2014); General Director of Supporting Services and Legal Director, Ministry of Defence (2013); Chief of Department for Security and International Relations, National Centre for Security and Defence (2012-2013); Director of Euro-Atlantic Integration and Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence (2008-2011); Policy and Media Advisor to the Minister of Defence (2006-2008); Director of Press and Information, Ministry of Defence (2004-2006); Deputy Director of Press and Information at the Ministry of Defence (2001-2003); Chief of Public Relations for the Secretariat for Refugees, Ministry of Local Government and Decentralization (2001); and journalist and editor with several Albanian newspapers and TV (1997-2001).

Mr. Hasani is a graduate from the Faculty of Law, University of Tirana, Albania (2001-2006); King's College London, United Kingdom, with a Master in International Relations (2006); the Royal College of Defence Studies, London, United Kingdom (2005); and the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tirana, Albania, with a degree in Sociology and Philosophy (1996-2001).

Mr. Hasani speaks English, Italian and Greek.
