New Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq presents credentials

VIENNA, 28 February (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations (Vienna), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Jabir Habeb Jabir Hemaidawi, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Hemaidawi has served in various capacities, among them:

Iraqi Ambassador to Austria (since 2018); Iraqi Ambassador to Tunisia (2013-2017); Iraqi Ambassador to Washington DC (2012); Member of the Iraqi Parliament (2010); Ambassador in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010); Member of the Constitution Review Committee; Member of the Iraqi Parliament (2006); Weekly columnist in the London-based Middle East newspaper "Al-Sharq Al-Awsat" (2004); President of the Iraqi Society for Political Sciences (2004); Chairperson of the Political Thoughts Department, College of Political Sciences University of Baghdad (2003); and Assistant Professor and Lecturer, College of Political Sciences University of Baghdad (1992-2005).

Mr. Hemaidawi has a Bachelor's degree in Political Sciences from the College of Law and political Science, University of Baghdad (1980) and a PhD in Political Sciences from the United Kingdom (1986-1991).
