UNODC to launch World Drug Report 2019 in Vienna

VIENNA, 17 June (UN Information Service) -To introduce the findings of the World Drug Report 2019, media are invited to attend the following events:

1)      Pre-briefing on the World Drug Report 2019

Time & Date:     2:00 p.m. on Monday, 24 June 2019

Venue:              Vienna International Centre (VIC), C0229, C-Building, 2 nd floor

Registration:     Please register for the media pre-briefing no later than Friday, 21 June COB by writing to press.vienna[at]un.org

Angela Me, Chief of the Research and Trend Analysis Branch, Thomas Pietschmann and Kamran Niaz, Research Officers for the World Drug Report, will brief media representatives on the findings of the World Drug Report 2019.

Please note: All information presented at the pre-briefing is UNDER EMBARGO until Wednesday, 26 June 2019 at 00:01 a.m. CEST (25 June 22:01 GMT)

2)      Official launch of the World Drug Report 2019 during the CND Special Event to commemorate the UN International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Time & Date:     10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 26 June 2019

Location:           Vienna International Centre (VIC), Board Room C, C-Building, 4 th floor

The Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Yury Fedotov, and the Chief of the Research and Trend Analysis Branch, Angela Me, will brief on the main findings of the World Drug Report 2019.

The World Drug Report will be launched during a Special Event of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, chaired by Ambassador Mirghani Abbaker Altayeb Bakhet, Chair of the 62nd session of the CND.
