President of the UN General Assembly to visit Vienna

NEW YORK/VIENNA, 19 August 2019 - The President of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, will travel to Vienna, Austria, on 22 August 2019, to visit the Vienna International Centre.

On 23 August the President will meet with the Heads of the Vienna-based UN organizations and participate in a special event to mark the 40th anniversary of the inauguration of the Vienna International Centre. Discussions will focus on the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

She will also hold bilateral meetings with H.E. Mr. Alexander Van der Bellen, Federal President of the Republic of Austria, and H.E. Mr. Alexander Schallenberg, Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria.

The President will then travel to the European Forum in Alpbach where she will hold a keynote address at the Opening of the Political Symposium on 24 August.

Travel costs will be covered by the Government of Austria and the Trust Fund of the Office of the President of the General Assembly.

The President will return to New York on 25 August.
