World's biggest anti-corruption gathering to meet in Abu Dhabi in December

Media Accreditation opens for eighth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Abu Dhabi, 16 to 20 December 2019

VIENNA, 14 October (UN Information Service) - The eighth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) - COSP8 - will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from 16 to 20 December 2019. The Conference is expected to discuss a wide range of topcis, including preventing and combating corruption, the review of the implementation of the Convention  by States, asset recovery, technical assistance and preparations for the special session of the General Assembly against corruption, to be held in 2021. 

The high-level opening will be addressed by the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Yury Fedotov.

The United Nations Convention against Corruption is the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument. Every two years the States Parties to the Convention meet to review the implementation of the Convention and discuss ways to improve cooperation between States parties to achieve the Convention's objectives. More than one thousand participants, including many high-level participants, are expected to attend from governments, regional and intergovernmental organizations, civil society, and the media.

Media representatives wishing to cover the conference are advised to apply for accreditation in advance of the session by contacting the Accreditation Office of the United Nations Information Service Vienna by writing to press.vienna[at]un.org. There will be the possibility for onsite registration at the Press Registration Counter at the conference venue, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Media facilities, including a press centre and a press briefing room will be available in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
