Permanent Representative of Cuba presents credentials

VIENNA, 11 February (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations (Vienna), Loipa Sánchez Lorenzo, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During her career, Ms. Sánchez Lorenzo, who is also Ambassador to Austria, Croatia and Slovenia, has served in various capacities, among them:

Rank of Ambassador, Europe and Canada Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017-2019); Ambassador to Slovakia (2011-2016); Minister-Counsellor, Department of Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011); Minister-Counsellor to Italy and the International Organizations, Rome (2010); Counsellor, Department of Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2010); Counsellor and Minister-Counsellor, Directorate of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2011); Counsellor, Embassy to Ethiopia, Djibouti and the African Union (2003-2007); First Secretary, Department of Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000-2003); Second and First Secretary, Directorate of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2003); Third Secretary, Embassy to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union (1996-1998); Third Secretary, Embassy to Russia and Latvia (1995); and Diplomatic attaché, Europe Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1990-1994).

Ms. Sánchez Lorenzo holds a Bachelor's degree in International Political Relations from the Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations and a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Havana.

She speaks English and French.

She is married and has a son.
