Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka presents credentials

VIENNA, 25 August (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations (Vienna), Majintha Jayesinghe, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During his career, Mr. Jayesinghe who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (2019-2020); Deputy High Commissioner, High Commission of Sri Lanka, Malaysia (2018-2019); Minister, High Commission of Sri Lanka, Malaysia (2015-2018); Chief of Protocol, Ministry of External Affairs (2011-2015); Consul General, Consulate in China (2007-2011); and worked in the East Asia and Pacific Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006-2007); and at the Embassy in China (2002-2006).

Mr. Jayesinghe holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom and a Diploma in International Affairs from the Bandaranaike International Centre for International Studies, Sri Lanka.

He speaks Sinhala, English, and Chinese.
