Permanent Representative of Afghanistan presents credentials

VIENNA, 15 March (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the United Nations (Vienna), Manizha Bakhtari, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During her career, Ms. Bakhtari has served in various capacities, among them:

Responsible for social work and advocacy to eradicate systemic gender-based violence and enhance intersectional feminism, Ishtar Women’s Resource Society, Vancouver (2018-present); Responsible for social work and client advocacy for access to housing, employment, mental health and welfare, Salvation Army – Belkin House, Vancouver (2018-present); Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2015-2016); Ambassador to Nordic Countries, Oslo (2009-2015); Chief of Staff, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2009); Assistant Lecturer and Professor, Kabul University Faculty of Journalism, Kabul (2004-2015); Gender and Human Rights Officer, Cooperation Center for Afghanistan, Kabul (2001-2009), Co-founder, Parnian Publication Center (1995-2009).

Ms. Bakhtari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Kabul University, Faculty of Journalism, Kabul, and a Master’s degree in Persian Language and Literature from Kabul University, Faculty of Language and Literature, Kabul.
