Permanent Representative of Nigeria presents credentials

VIENNA, 17 June (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations (Vienna), Suleiman Dauda Umar, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During his career, Mr. Umar, has served in various capacities, among them:

Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2019-present); Consul General, Consulate General in Frankfurt (2018-2020); Director, European Affairs Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017-2018); Chargé D’Affairs to Belgium, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, European Union and African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of States resident in Brussels (2016-2017); Minister (Consular and Immigration) to Belgium, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, European Union and ACP group of States resident in Brussels (2014-2017); Assistant Director, Office of the Vice President (2012-2014); Assistant Director, Foreign Service Inspectorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011-2012); Minister - Multilateral and Head of Chancery, Embassy/Mission in Vienna, Austria (2010-2011); Minister Counsellor, High Commission, London (2008-2010); Assistant Chief Foreign Affairs Officer, Posting and Discipline Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (2007-2008); Consul (Counsellor), Consulate General in Jeddah (2003-2007); Counsellor, Embassy in Tunis (2003); and First Secretary, Embassy in Cairo (1998-2000);

Mr. Umar holds a Postgraduate certificate in Diplomacy and a Master’s in International Politics.

Mr. Umar speaks English and Hausa.
