Permanent Representative of Syria presents credentials

VIENNA, 17 June (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Syria to the United Nations (Vienna), Hasan Khaddour, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During his career, Mr. Khaddour, who is also Head of Mission to Austria and Slovakia (Chargé d’Affaires a.i.) has served in various capacities, among them:

Director of Consular Affairs Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (2019-2021); Head of Mission in Kyiv, Ukraine (2015-2018); Director of Consular Affairs Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (2013-2015); Non-Resident Ambassador to Malta (2011); Ambassador to Italy (2010); Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Embassy in Rome, Italy (2009); Director of Europe Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2009); Deputy-Director of International Organizations Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2002); Chef de Cabinet of the Deputy-Minister of Foreign Affairs (1993-1994).

Mr. Khaddour has a Master’s in Political Sciences from Vienna University and a Ph.D. in English Literature.

Mr. Khaddour speaks Arabic, English, and Italian.

He is married and has three children.
