Permanent Representative of Chile presents credentials

VIENNA, 5 August (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Chile, Belén Constanza Sapag Muñoz de la Peña, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During her career, Ms. Sapag, who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:

Chief of Staff of the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs (May 2021); Permanent Mission of Chile to the United Nations, New York (2013-2018); Deputy Director of European Affairs (2011-2013); Permanent Mission of Chile to the United Nations, New York (2006-2011); Head of the Foreign Service Department (2002-2005); Embassy of Chile in Argentina (1997-2002); Cabinet of the Minister (1995-1997) and the Directorate of Special Policy (current Directorate of International and Human Security).

Ms. Sapag holds a Master’s Degree in Foreign Policy summa cum laude from the University of Santiago (2005) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal and Social Sciences from the University of Chile (1992). She graduated from the Executive Leadership Program of the JFK School of Government of Harvard University (2009) and the Diplomatic Academy “Andrés Bello” (1994).

Ms. Sapag speaks Spanish, English, and French.
