Message from the main Vienna International Centre organizations

VIENNA, 11 January (UN Information Service) – This is a message from the four main organizations based at the Vienna International Centre (VBOs). 

The Vienna International Centre (VIC) Medical Service reported today that four people who work for VIC-based organizations tested positive for SARS CoV-2.

One person works for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the VIC. There was no workplace exposure.

One person works for the IAEA in Austria, but not at the VIC. Close contacts have been informed. Another person works for the IAEA outside Austria. The fourth person works for the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) outside Austria.

The cumulative total number of people who have tested positive among personnel of the VIC-based organizations is 196, of whom 161 work at the VIC. Of the total of 196 personnel, 178 have recovered.

The four main VBOs are the United Nations Office at Vienna/UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN Industrial Development Organization and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.
