New Permanent Representative of Brazil presents credentials

VIENNA, 20 April (UN Information Service) – The Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations (Vienna), Nelson Antonio Tabajara de Oliveira, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During his career, Mr. Tabajara de Olivieira, who is also Amabassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador to Sweden and non-resident Ambassador to Latvia (2018-2022); Under Secretary-General for Multilateral Affairs and for European and North American Political Affairs, Foreign Ministry (2018-2019); Special Adviser and Director-General, Department for Defence and Security Affairs, Foreign Ministry (2015-2018); Director-General, Department for Central America and the Caribbean, Foreign Ministry (2011-2013); Head of the Division of the Organization of American States, Foreign Ministry (2003-2006); Head of the Division for the Antarctic, the Law of the Sea and Outer Space Affairs, Foreign Ministry (1996-1999); and he has served in the embassies in the Holy See (1987-1990), Santiago, Chile (1990-1993), and New Delhi, India (1993-1996).

Mr. Tabajara de Oliveira graduated from the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy (Instituto Rio Branco) and presented his master’s thesis at the Foreign Ministry’s High Level Studies for Diplomats in Brazil.

Mr. Tabajara de Oliveira is married and has two children.
