New Permanent Representative of Somalia presents credentials

VIENNA, 29 June (UN Information Service) – The Permanent Representative of Somalia to the United Nations (Vienna), Ebyan Mahamed Salah, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During her career, Ms. Salah, who is also Ambassador to Austria and Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, has served in various capacities, among them:

Vice President of the Human Rights Council (2021); Ambassador to India, New Delhi (2007-2019);  Policy Analyst and Gender Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia (2004-2007); Executive Director, Som-Can Insitute for Research and Development, Ottawa (1998-2003); and Researcher at the Ministry of Justice Department (1996-1997).

Ms. Salah holds a Master’s degree in sociology from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in sociology/anthropology from the same university and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Pune College, India.

Ms. Salah speaks Somali and English.

Ms. Salah has four daughters.
