Press conference in Geneva by UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine on Monday

VIENNA, 22 September (UN Information Service) – Members of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine will give a press conference in Geneva at the conclusion of the oral update to the Human Rights Council (HRC).

Commissioners Erik Møse (Chair), Pablo de Greiff and Vrinda Grove will update the media about the Commission’s ongoing active investigations since the beginning of its second mandate from April 2023. 

Date and time: 25 September 2023, Monday at 13:30 Geneva time.

Background information: 

The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine is an independent body mandated by the UN Human Rights Council to, among other things, investigate all alleged violations and abuses of human rights and violations of international humanitarian law, and related crimes in the context of the aggression against Ukraine by the Russian Federation. Its aim is to establish the facts, circumstances and root causes of any such violations and abuses; and to collect, consolidate and analyse evidence of such violations and abuses, including their gender dimension, in view of any future legal proceedings. The Commission will submit reports of its activities to the General Assembly in October 2023, and to the UN Human Rights Council in March 2024.
