VIENNA, 22 January (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations (Vienna), Gustavo Zlauvinen, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Zlauvinen, who is also Ambassador to Austria,has served in various capacities, among them:
President of the Argentine Foreign Service Association (2022-2024); President of the tenth Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) (2020-2022); Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Deputy Foreign Minister) (2019); Undersecretary for Foreign Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (2016-2018); Director for International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2014-2016); Executive Secretary of the Argentine National Authority for the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (2010-2014); Representative of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the United Nations, New York (2001-2009); Counsellor, Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000-2001); Chief of Staff, United Nations Special Commission for the Disarmament of Iraq (UNSCOM), New York (1995-1999); Alternative Representative of Argentina to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Second Secretary, Embassy in Vienna, Austria (1991-1995); (and Third Secretary, Department for Nuclear and Disarmament Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1989-1991).
Mr. Zlauvinen holds a graduate degree in International Relations from the National University of Rosari.
