New High School Model United Nations Conference MUNoV 2019 at the Vienna International Centre

"Promoting peace in a polarized world" - that was the theme of MUNoV 2019 - a new Model United Nations Conference for high school students taking place from 16 to 18 January 2019 at the Vienna International Centre.

Over 200 students from ten schools and eight different countries came together to discuss sustainable solutions to promote peace in a polarized world. Many complex issues like global instability, growing corruption, transnational terrorism and income disparity were debated by delegates in their committees, simulating the work of the UN Security Council, the Human Rights Council, the International Atomic Energy Agency and many other UN entities.

In his message to future MUN delegates, Secretary General of MUNoV 2019 and organizing Chairperson Gurubharan Ganeson stressed the multiple benefits of taking part in a simulation conference: "You should always take Model UN conferences seriously. If you really take the time and put effort into Model United Nations, you will be able to achieve a lot. For instance, you will improve your critical thinking abilities, increase your networking skills and be able to communicate better with people. The effort makes the reward all the more meaningful!".

The conference was organized by the Vienna International School (VIS) and Danube International School Vienna (DIS) in cooperation with the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) and the United Nations Information Service (UNIS) Vienna.
