VIENNA, 23 October 2023 (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations (Vienna), Tsegab Kebebew Daka, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career Mr. Daka has served in various capacities, among them:
Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland (2023-present); Ambassador to Australia (2022-2023); Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands (2019-2021), Director General of Asia and Pacific Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017-2019); Director General and Coordinator for United Nations Security Council Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2016-2017); Head of the Foreign Service Training Institute, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2015-2016); Minister Counsellor, Embassy in Washington DC, United States (2011-2015); Deputy Chief then Chief of Cabinet at the Minister’s Office (2010-2011); Director of Asia and Oceania Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2010); Coordinator for China-Africa Affairs, Asia, Australasia and Middle East General Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006-2007); Second Secretary, Embassy in Beijing, China (2001-2006); Second Secretary, Asia, Australasia and Middle East General Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-2001) and Third Secretary, Middle East Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994-1997).
Mr. Daka holds an Executive Masters in development and governance from the Diplomatic School of Brussels, Belgium and a Masters of Arts in political science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Delhi University, India.
He speaks Amharic and English.
