VIENNA, 16 November (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations (Vienna), Georgios Iliopoulos, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Iliopoulos has served in various capacities, among them:
Financial Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2023-present); Ambassador to China and Mongolia (2019-2022); Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina (2016-2019); Consul General in New York, United States (2012-2016); Director of the IT and Communications Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008-2011); Deputy Head of Mission and First Counsellor, Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark (2004-2008); Office of the Director General for Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002-2004); Consul in Cape Town, South Africa (1998-2002); Head of the Mission establishing Consulate General in Korçe, Albania (1998); Deputy Head of Mission and First Secretary, Embassy in Helsinki, Finland (1994-1997); UN Department/Disarmament Unit, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1993-1994); Consul, Consulate General in Frankfurt, Germany and Third Secretary, Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark (1992); and Attaché, Department of Indian Subcontinent, Asia, Oceania and the Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1991-1992).
Mr. Iliopoulos holds a Bachelor of Arts in letters and literature from the University of Athens.
