VIENNA, 12 March (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations Office at Vienna, José Antonio Zabalgoitia Trejo, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Zabalgoitia Trejo who is also Ambassador to Austria and designated Ambassador to Slovakia and Slovenia, has served in various positions, among them:
Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (2019-2023); Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy in Washington, United States (2017- 2019); Consul General in Miami, United States (2013-1017); Director General for Western Hemisphere Multilateral and Regional Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008-2013); Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Foreign Relations (2006-2008); Ambassador to Bolivia (2004-2006); and Director General for Latin American and the Caribbean, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2001-2004).
Mr. Zabalgoitia Trejoholds postgraduate degrees in international relations from the London School of Economics, in communication and political management from Universidad Complutense and in Peace Studies from Oslo University. He holds a degree in international relations from El Colegio de México.
