Strokovnjakinja ZN bo ocenila stanje človekovih pravic starejših oseb v Sloveniji

DUNAJ/ŽENEVA 18. november (Urad visokega komisarja ZN za človekove pravice (OHCHR)) - Neodvisna strokovnjakinja Združenih narodov, Rosa Kornfeld-Matte, je na uradnem obisku v Sloveniji med 17. in 21. novembrom 2014, z namenom ocenitve stanja človekovih pravic starejših oseb v državi.

"Starejše osebe v Sloveniji so pomemben in hitro rastoč segment družbe," je dejala gospa Kornfeld-Matte. "Ta obisk mi bo omogočil razpravo o sprejetih usmeritvah slovenske vlade na področju zagotovljanja aktivnega in učinkovitega sodelovanje starejših oseb v polnem spektru družbenega življenja."

"Še posebej želim poizvedeti več o novo zasnovani strategiji Solidarnost, sožitje in kakovostno staranje prebivalstva," je dodala.

Neodvisna strokovnjaka je poudarila, da je obisk priložnost, da se identificirajo tako najboljše prakse kot tudi pomanjkljivosti izvajanja obstoječe zakonodaje na področju spodbujanja in zaščite pravic starejših oseb.

Kornfeld-Mattova, ki je v Sloveniji na povabilo vlade, bo potovala v Ljubljano ter, med drugim, obiskala regiji Gorenjsko in Primorsko, kjer bodo potekale razprave z vladnimi predstavniki, nevladnimi organizacijami in drugimi, ki se ukvarjajo s tematiko starejših oseb.

Ob zaključku obiska neodvisne strokovnjakinje, je predvidena izmenjava predhodnih ugotovitev z mediji na novinarski konferenci v Ljubljani, in sicer v petek, 21. novembra, 2014 ob 14:00 uri (še ni potrjeno), v Grand Hotelu Union.

Neodvisna strokovnjakinja bo septembra 2015 predstavila Svetu ZN za človekove pravice v celovitem poročilu svoje ugotovitve in priporočila o obisku države.

Ms. Rosa Kornfeld-Matte (Chile) was appointed by Human Rights Council as the first Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons in May 2014. Ms. Kornfeld-Matte served as the National Director of the Chilean National Service of Ageing where she designed and implemented the National Policy of Ageing. The Special Rapporteurs are part of what is known as the Special Procedures of the Human Rights Council. Special Procedures, the largest body of independent experts in the UN Human Rights system, is the general name of the Council's independent fact-finding and monitoring mechanisms that address either specific country situations or thematic issues in all parts of the world. Special Procedures' experts work on a voluntary basis; they are not UN staff and do not receive a salary for their work. They are independent from any government or organization and serve in their individual capacity.
