Space Days at the United Nations - Open Day

VIENNA, 2 June (UN Information Service) - Join us for the Space Day at the United Nations, when the Vienna International Centre will be open to the public to visit the international space exhibition on 50 years of human space flight. Meet with astronauts, representatives of space-faring nations and space agencies.

The Space Exhibition will be open to the public from 1 to 30 June 2011 in the Rotunda of the VIC and The UN Visitors Service has prepared special Space Tours and guides will guide visitors all month through the exhibition. A touchable Moon rock and models of the International Space Station, rockets, satellites and spacecraft models will be among the items on display in this international exhibition. More than 25 States and organizations with their individual displays on national space accomplishments and separate displays on joint space activities, that promote international cooperation in outer space. All the major space nations that have human spaceflight programmes (China, Russian Federation, United States) as well as the European Space Agency will be represented.

On Space Day on 4 June visitors can take the tours of the exhibition and meet astronauts and cosmonauts and make their own space buttons. For a full experience, special Space tours will take place at 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00 from Gate 1.
