United Nations Secretary-General to visit Slovakia

VIENNA, 13 October (UN Information Service) - The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will visit Slovakia on 17 to 20 October 2015 for a bilateral visit to the country.

The Secretary-General will hold talks with President Andrej Kiska, Prime Minister Robert Fico, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák. While in Bratislava the Secretary-General will give a speech to students from the diplomatic academy of Comenius University and receive an honorary doctorate and gold medal from the university.

He will also inaugurate an exhibition on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations at the National Council of the Slovak Republic. Finally, he will visit a centre hosting refugees in Gabčíkovo before returning to New York.

On Monday 19 October the Secretary-General will give a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister, for accredited media representatives.

Media representatives are invited to cover the event. It is recommended to arrive by 14:30 to ensure entry.
