Austrian President on first visit to the Vienna International Centre

VIENNA, 17 November 2017 - The Austrian President, Alexander Van der Bellen, will be visiting the Vienna International Centre on Wednesday 22 November. The President will meet some of the 4,500 staff who work at the Vienna-based United Nations organizations, around one third of whom are Austrian.

President Van der Bellen will be welcomed by the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov, along with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano, the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, Lassina Zerbo, and the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, LI Yong.

During his visit the President will be briefed on the work of the Vienna-based UN organizations and meet staff working at the Vienna International Centre.

The media are invited to come to an event with the President, the heads of the UN organizations and staff in the Rotunda at 11.00 a.m.

Media representatives who wish to cover the President's visit are advised to arrive at Gate 1 of the Vienna International Centre by 10.30 a.m. Journalists who are not accredited to the Vienna International Centre, should email press@unvienna.org for accreditation by close of business on Monday 20 th November 2017.
