New Permanent Representative of the Republic of Slovenia presents Credentials

VIENNA, 26 August (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Nations (Vienna), Barbara Žvokelj, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During her career, Ms. Žvokelj has served in various capacities, among them:

Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Head of the Department for International Organisations (Arms Control Issues), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2016-2019); Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Head of Mission, Permanent Representation to the UN, OSCE and other International Organisations in Vienna (2010-2016); Minister Plenipotentiary, Department for Security Policy (Arms Control Issues), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009-2010); Minister Plenipotentiary, Department for International Organisations, Council of Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009); Minister Counsellor, Office of the State Secretary for EU Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2007-2008); Head of Cabinet and Head of Department for International Cooperation, Slovene Intelligence and Security Agency (2006-2007); Third, then Second Secretary, Permanent Representation of the Republic of Slovenia to NATO, Representative in the Political Committee (2002-2006); NATO Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002); Third Secretary, NATO Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000-2001); Intern, NATO International Secretariat, Defence Planning Department, Brussels (1999-2000); Attaché, NATO Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998-1999); Trainee, Department for Neighbouring Countries, Croatia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998).

Ms. Žvokelj holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Ljubljana.

She is married and has one child.
