Past Presidents of the General Assembly

With a new session of the General Assembly comes a new President of the General Assembly.

Dennis Francis of Trinidad and Tobago

Mr. Francis has had a career spanning approximately 40 years in the Diplomatic Service of Trinidad and Tobago. For 18 of those years of unbroken service, he held the rank of Ambassador until his compulsory retirement from career service in 2016.

For his term of office, the President has set out four priorities to meaningfully address the global challenges we are facing: Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability.

Csaba Kőrösi of Hungary

Mr. Kőrösi has held several roles within his country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, his most recent post being Director of Environmental Sustainability at the Office of the President of Hungary. He has been involved with the UN for several years and served as Vice-President of the General Assembly during the 67th session in 2011-2012.

The priorities for his term of office are: upholding the UN Charter; sustainability transformation; integrated systemic solutions; and increasing trust and solidarity.
