VIENNA, 5 February (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of North Macedonia to the United Nations Office at Vienna, Pajo Avirovic, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Avirovic has served in various positions, among them:
Director, Directorate for Multilateral Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2020-present); Director, Directorate for Bilateral Relations with Non-European States, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2019-2020); Deputy Director for Eurasia, Africa, Middle East and Southern Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2019); Ambassador to Israel, Tel Aviv (2014-2018); Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York (2011-2014); Ambassador to Israel, Tel Aviv (2009-2011); Charge d’Affaires, Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel (2008-2009); Director for Public Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006-2008); Deputy Head of Sector for coordination of the Minister’s Cabinet Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005-2006); Minister Counsellor, Embassy in Paris (2001-2005); Head of Department for the European States, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998-2001); and Head of Division for Western Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-1998).
Mr. Avirovic holds a Master of Arts degree in Oriental Philology from the University of Belgrade and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Oriental Philology from the University of Sarajevo.
Mr. Avirovic speaks Croatian, English, French, Hebrew, Macedonian, Serbian and Turkish.
