New Permanent Representative of Venezuela presents credentials

VIENNA, 19 July (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (Vienna), Claudia Salerno Caldera, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During her career, Ms. Salerno has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, (2015-2024) and Ambassador to the European Union (2015 – 2021); Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Change (2009-2016); Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Cooperation (2014-2015); Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for North America (2012-2014); Director of International and Multilateral Organizations, General Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010-2012); Executive Secretary of the Bi-national Technical Commission for the Integral Study of the River Basins between Venezuela and Colombia (2002-2009); and Director General of International Cooperation, Ministry of Environment (2009-2010).

Ms. Salerno holds a Ph.D. in public international law from the Paris-Panthéon-Assas University and a Master of Advanced Studies in environmental law from the Paris-Panthéon-Sorbonne University and the Paris-Panthéon-Assas University.

Ms. Salerno speaks in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
