NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ETHIOPIA
PRESENTS CREDENTIALS


VIENNA, 26 August (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations (Vienna), Halima Mohammed, presented her credentials on Monday to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Mohammed was Ambassador to Italy, also accredited to Greece and Turkey, and Permanent Representative to United Nations agencies residing in Italy. From 1993 to 1996, she served as Head of the Regional Bureau of Oromiya’s Culture and Sport Affairs in Ethiopia. Between 1989 and 1993, Ms. Mohammed was Head of Language department of Bale Culture and Sports, and Expert in the Public Relations Office at the Ministry of Culture and Sports. She has also worked as a Language Expert and Lexicographer, both at the Ministry of Culture and Sports Affairs, and the Ethiopian Language Academy in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

Ms. Mohammed holds a degree in Language and Literature from Addis Ababa University. She is married.
