Nicolas Cage to Address United Nations Conference on Transnational Organized Crime

Actor will address Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) on 21 October 2010 at 10 a.m. at Vienna International Centre

VIENNA, 18 October (UN Information Service) - Nicolas Cage, Academy Award winning actor and UNODC Goodwill Ambassador for Global Justice, will be in Vienna on 21 October 2010 to address the Fifth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime.

Mr. Cage will speak at the Conference to draw attention to the plight of victims of transnational organized crime worldwide.

The media are invited to attend on Thursday, 21 October 2010, at 10 a.m. in Boardroom B, M-building and to accompany him to the opening of an exhibition about human trafficking at 11 a.m. in the M-building M01 Foyer.

A special media briefing on human trafficking will take place on Tuesday 19 October at 9.30 a.m. in Room M2 (M-building) with the participation of the United States Ambassador against human trafficking, Luis CdeBaca.

The briefing will provide an opportunity for the media to discuss the global challenges of human trafficking with a range of experts. Additional panelists will include a human trafficking expert from UNODC, a representative from UNICEF and the non-governmental organization (NGO), La Strada.
