Media briefing on the new UN strategy to combat human trafficking and migrant smuggling

Speaker: Ilias Chatzis, Chief, Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section, UNODC

Short Summary: Human trafficking and migrant smuggling are multi-billion-dollar businesses that have changed dramatically in recent years, driven by global challenges such as war, massive migration and refugee flows, cybercrime, climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. Against this backdrop, UNODC is launching a global Action against Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling.

All journalists, including those accredited to the UN in Vienna, who plan to attend need to register before 12:00 noon CEST on Friday 19 April by submitting this online form.
