VIENNA/ADDIS ABABA, 31 October (UN Information Service) – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization holds a World Without Hunger Conference, a three-day long event consisting of solution-oriented technical sessions, an investment forum, and a high-level political forum, to address ending hunger. Over 1,500 high-level stakeholders, including Heads of State/Government, Ministers, UN agencies, the private sector, financial institutions, donor community, development finance institutions, civil society, non-governmental organizations, academia, and media will be present.
The conference is co-organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the Government of Ethiopia, with technical assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The event will be opened by Ethiopian Prime Minister H.E. Aby Ahmed, UNIDO Director General Dr. Gerd Mueller and African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson H.E. Moussa Faki.

The conference will include the launch of a new joint UNIDO-FAO study, which presents a comprehensive outline of how hunger can be ended globally by means of generating incomes through local value addition, particularly in the agri-food sector. The study identifies concrete areas for investment in food security and presents a new estimate of the cost of ending hunger worldwide.
