VIENNA, 22 January (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the United Nations (Vienna), Vu Le Thai Hoang, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Vu, who is also Ambassador to Austria,has served in various capacities, among them:
Director (2023-2024) and Acting Director (2022-2023), Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Deputy Director General, Americas Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2019-2022); Deputy Director General, National Secretariat for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 2020, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2019); Counsellor – Minister Counsellor, Embassy to the United States (2014-2018); Deputy Director, Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies (2013-2014); Deputy Director General, Foreign Policy Planning Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012-2014); Assistant to Director General, Foreign Policy Planning Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010-2012); and Desk Officer, Foreign Policy Planning Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008-2010).
Mr. Vu holds a PhD in International Relations from the United Kingdom, a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from Singapore and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam.
