VIENNA, 23 January (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the United Nations (Vienna), Richard Brown, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Brown, who is also Ambassador to Switzerland,has served in various capacities, among them:
Under-Secretary (Acting), Foreign Trade Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (2023); Senior Director, Foreign Trade Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (2021-2023); Director of Research, Foreign Trade Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (2020-2021); Director, CARICOM Single Market and Sectoral Programmes, CARICOM Secretariat (2017-2020); Director of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries (2016-2017); Deputy Director, Bilateral and Regional Trade, Foreign Trade Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (2014-2017); Foreign Service Officer, Foreign Trade Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (2013-2014); First Secretary/CounseIIor, Permanent Mission to the United Nations and its Specialized Agencies at Geneva, (2008-2013); and Foreign Service Officer, Foreign Trade Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (2003-2007).
Mr. Brown holds a PhD in international economics, from the Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies, Geneva, Switzerland, a Master of Science in economics from the University-of the West Indies and a Bachelor of Science in economics and management from the University-of the West Indies.
