VIENNA, 25 February (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations (Vienna), Pattarat Hongtong, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During her career Ms. Hongtong who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:
Ambassador to India (2020-2024); Director-General, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (2019-2020); Deputy Director-General, Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017-2019); Director, Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs (2015-2017); Minister-Counsellor, Embassy in Tokyo, Japan (2012-2015); Chief, Department of East Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009-2012); Counsellor, Peace, Security and Disarmament Division, Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005-2009); Counsellor, Embassy in Moscow, Russian Federation (2005); First Secretary, Embassy in Moscow, Russian Federation (2001-2005); First Secretary, Commerce and Industry Division, Department of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000-2001); First Secretary, Embassy in Bern, Switzerland (1998-2000); Second Secretary, Embassy in Bern, Switzerland (1995-1998); Second Secretary, Division IV, Department of East Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1995); Third Secretary, Division IV, Department of East Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1993-1995).
Ms. Hongtong holds a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs from Thammasat University, Thailand, and a Master of Arts in international relations from Sophia University, Japan.
