New Permanent Representative of Rwanda presents credentials

VIENNA, 19 April (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations (Vienna), James Ngango, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During his career, Mr. Ngango has served in various capacities, among them:

Minister Counsellor, Embassy in Switzerland and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva (2019-2024); First Counsellor, Embassy in Switzerland (2015-2019); Acting Director for Africa, Acting Director General for Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation, later Director General,  Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010-2015); First Counsellor, Embassy in Germany (2007-2010);

Head of Directorate for Bilateral and Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006-2007); Acting Director for International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-2005); Head of Division, African Union and Regional Economic Communities, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000-2004); Senior Officer in charge of the African Union (former OAU) and Regional Economic Community Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998-1999) and Officer in charge, Central African Region and Great Lakes Region, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1995-1998).  

Mr. Ngango holds a Master’s degree in international development policy from the Seoul National University, Korea and a Bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations from the University of Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Mr. Ngango speaks English, French Kinyarwanda and Kiswahili,.
