The accelerating impacts of the climate crisis are already being felt in the unique South Caucasus region. Through the United Nations Environment’s project Mountains ADAPT: Advancing Climate Action, work is being undertaken to strengthen the resilience of mountain communities and ecosystems. The project provides small grant funding for community-led, nature-based solutions in the South Caucasus.

The natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Carpathians is being conserved, restored and wisely used to provide a healthy environment in partnership with the seven Carpathian countries through the Carpathian Convention which has marked its 20^th anniversary. The Secretariat of the Convention is hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
