New Permanent Representative of Uruguay presents credentials

VIENNA, 18 October (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Uruguay to the United Nations (Vienna), Alejandro Garofali Acosta, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During his career, Mr. Garofali has served in various capacities among them:

Director for Institutional Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uruguay; Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein and Permanent Representative to the Universal Postal Union, Bern, Switzerland; Ambassador to Ethiopia and Kenya; Permanent Representative of Uruguay to the African Union, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), UN-Habitat and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Diplomat for Uruguay in the United States, Sweden and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Montevideo, Uruguay.  

Mr. Garofali holds a doctorate (Ph.D.) in law and economics of sustainable development from the Catholic University of Ávila in Spain, a master in business administration and management from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain and a degree in international relations from the University of the Republic in Uruguay.

He speaks English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish.
